From a friend of a friend of a friend...:" Signs of Life is a collection of photos of the hand-made signs that appeared in New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina. All profits from sales of the book will go to two organizations still working in the area: Common Ground Relief and Hands On Network." See a slideshow here.

Writer/art historian Lawrence Weschler, already known for his intriguing essays and accompanying diptychs demonstrating the "convergences" of otherwise unrelated images, is holding a contest in honor of/in order to publicize his new book, Everything That Rises: A Book of Convergences, published by McSweeney's, publishers of the literary journal of the same name. My personal favorite is "Catskills Vagina" by Dan Clem. **If you reload this page enough times, you will catch one of my own "convergences" in my Random Scrapbook Page, circa 1998. **
