Visual Junk Journal

CreativeTime.org

Check out these great folks sprucing up the carny games and rides out at Coney Island. I was there all day for the Mermaid Parade and stumbled into their lair for a sneak-peek at some good-old-fashioned sign-painting.

Slight Redesign

Notice anything different? I thought I'd spruce things up since the design has been the same puke-green background for 5 years. Now the background is an equally hard to read crumpled paper surrounded by puke green. In addition, the site is finally W3C HTML & CSS compliant. Could it possibly be that the site now looks just as bad on every browser and platform?!?

Hand-Painted & Hand-Crafted Signs

Fossils in our Visual Landscape

A rather large sampling of the hundreds of photos that I've snapped over the years, in places like New York City, New Orleans, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and more.

Cult of the Goat

Bock Beer Labels and a Homonym Gone Awry

Devilish goats rear their ugly heads in these sinister looking beer labels from the U.S. and around the world. Includes a little bit of history on where this strange iconography came from.

45rpm Record Label Designs

Feast your eyes on this assortment of about one hundred labels and logos dating from the 1950s to the 1970s. I've been collecting these for a long time and thought I would share some of my favorites.

Un-Conventional Signage

2004 New York City RNC Protest Signs

Here are my photos of the best signs, stickers and slogans displayed during the Republican National Convention protest march in New York City.
