Visual Junk Journal

The force is strong with this one...

My family is safe and sound and back home with electricity, running water and even telephone service. They were the lucky ones. Other friends lost everything. To take my mind off this thing, I've had a wonderfully absurd conspiracy theory building in my overloaded brain. Let me know what you think:

In order to deflect attention from the ever-deteriorating situation in Iraq, Karl Rove conjures up a category 5 hurricane and has it come ashore in New Orleans (land of debauchery) and the Mississippi Gulf Coast (land of casinos--more debauchery). Unaware of just how intense his Sith powers are, he watches the whole thing back-fire as his administration drops the ball and a disaster even bigger than Iraq unfolds. Nervous that his Emperor's approval numbers will tank further, he wills Justice Rehnquist to die in order to deflect attention to his previous deflection. But now the Dems will put Roberts through an even tighter ringer. What will Lord Karl do next?

Hand-Painted & Hand-Crafted Signs

Fossils in our Visual Landscape

A rather large sampling of the hundreds of photos that I've snapped over the years, in places like New York City, New Orleans, Pennsylvania, Antigua BWI and more.

Cult of the Goat

Bock Beer Labels and a Homonym Gone Awry

Devilish goats rear their ugly heads in these sinister looking beer labels from the U.S. and around the world. Includes a little bit of history on where this strange iconography came from.

45rpm Record Label Designs

Feast your eyes on this assortment of about one hundred labels and logos dating from the 1950s to the 1970s. I've been collecting these for a long time and thought I would share some of my favorites.

Un-Conventional Signage

2004 New York City RNC Protest Signs

Here are my photos of the best signs, stickers and slogans displayed during the Republican National Convention protest march in New York City.
